This house used to belong to Baron Miklós Jósika. The famous novelist and Hungarian patriot and his wife, the writer Baroness Júlia Podmaniczky, lived at St.Josse-ten-Noode from 1830 to 1864.

This commemorative plaque has been erected by the Alpes-Carpates Foundation and the General Commissariat of the Hungarian Government, for Europhalia '99 Hungaria.

It has actually taken two plaques to provide the relief head and the text in Hungarian, Flemish and French. The plaques are in the entrance to the building but, being an educational establishment the doors are frequently open.
