Born Brussels. Influenced by pointillism. Father of Jean-Jacques Gailliard.
Outside the Gailliard's home is a modern Ixelles information plaque which gives the following: Franz Gailliard was a painter of the Impressionist-Luminarist school. He studied at the Brussels Academy where he joined forces with Ensor and Khnopff. A multi-talented artist who was nick-named "The Reporter", he left over 7,000 drawings of Brussels sites and scenes.
