Born Léon Dommartin at Spa. Journalist and writer. He founded a satirical journal in his home town, "Le Bilboquet" and then spent some time in Paris but returned due to the Paris Commune. His most well-known work is "The Ardenne"; more than a tourist guide, it has an ecologist’s sensibilities well in advance of its time.
